THE CHALLENGE
In 2006 Reformed Bible College changed their name to Kuyper College. The name change was much about looking forward as the college strived to signify itself as a premiere Christian leadership institution. However, the leaders of the college felt it equally important to embrace, promote and share the rich history of the college to today’s culture in a prominent and high-traffic area of the College. A leadership committee, including John Evans of Storytelling Pictures, proposed the creation of The Heritage Wall to honor the past, acknowledge the present and look to the future of Kuyper College. Through The Heritage Wall the continually unfolding biblical and Reformed legacy of the institution would be viewed by present and future generations.
THE STRATEGY
“Every now and then … we need to stop, look back and remember. When we remember, we give honor, when we give honor; we find wisdom.” Storytelling Pictures took creative lead on The Heritage Wall project. We researched both the history and physical space available and worked with Kuyper to craft the below vision. The Heritage Wall will represent a visual time-line of the institution that will educate and inspire. Sensitive to not being just a list of institutional facts, the Heritage Wall must represent the story of Kuyper College; its challenges, changes and successes as a representation of Gods promise.
THE EXECUTION
The Heritage Wall was installed in one of the most highly trafficked areas of the campus. The wall is beautifully accented by historical artifacts and comfortable seating. However, the centerpiece of the space is a high-definition video projected in panoramic style onto The Heritage Wall itself. Intimate interviews, historical elements, and animated graphics tell the moving story of how God has guided Kuyper College and continues to inspire students today to bring God’s grace into today’s culture.
